July 21, 2006, Newsletter Issue #92: Private Treatment for Marijuana Addiction

Tip of the Week

Private treatment is an option for marijuana users who want to end a physical addiction and treat the underlying causes of their drug use. Many private drug rehab facilities are aimed at providing a serene environment and individual attention, which may be more encouraging to some patients than the typical inpatient experience at a hospital. They can also allow for longer stays in cases where a patient needs extra time to break emotional dependence on a drug and build social skills needed to sustain long-term abstinence.

Private treatment programs claim a higher rate of success than other forms of treatment. This is in part because of their cost, which means their clientele are more likely to have stable home lives and means of support, and are less likely to have been ordered into the program by a court.
