Tip of the Week

Private alcoholism treatment combines the benefits of inpatient treatment with such "extras" as acupuncture, exercise, massage, hypnosis, spiritual or religious components, and strong individual attention.

Many private alcohol rehabilitation programs also emphasize teaching patients "life skills" such as stress management, self-control, relationship-building, work skills, time management, and appropriate social behaviors. Alcoholism erodes these skills, or in some cases prevents young people from ever developing them. Such training is intended to help the patient build a successful alcohol-free life.

Private treatment programs often emphasize a safe, supportive, and pleasing environment in which to recover. Many are located in places of natural beauty such as mountains, forests, or near the ocean. These resources allow for healthy, goal-directed, and motivating experiences during the early stages of recovery.
