January 5, 2007, Newsletter Issue #113: Private Treatment for Cocaine Use

Tip of the Week

Especially where other approaches have failed to prevent relapses, a private drug rehabilitation or treatment program may provide the secure environment and flexibility needed for a cocaine addict to establish a lasting pattern of abstinence.

Private programs usually offer more individualized attention in therapy, including cognitive-behavioral and spiritual approaches that address the stresses and underlying conditions that motivated the patient to seek out drugs in the first place.

A longer-term private therapeutic community can offer patients a chance to learn new, drug-free ways to interact with others and make their way in society.
